Looking for divorce certificate

Hello,

I am looking for the divorce certificate of my grandmother from her first husband. My grandmother's name was Lula Edberg (that is her maiden name), and her first husband was Harlan Christiansen. I believe the divorce was filed in Wexford county, Michigan. It would have happened sometime in the 1940's, before 1946/47. Can anyone help? I would go personally to check courthouse records, but I am not living in Michigan now so it would be difficult for me to do.

Thank you!

Very few divorce records are online. One thing I've used, as evidence, is newspaper filing(s) of the divorce suit. It's usually just a short legal notice unless there was a custody battle or something else considered newsworthy about the couple.

The FS Catalog does show some Wexford, Michigan divorce records, but they are restricted to viewing in Salt Lake. https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/166338?

Thank you! I live an hour south of Salt Lake. I guess I should plan to make a trip up there sometime.
