Missing records

Is there a reason entire groups of records disappear from Family search? In recent months I had looked up the last name Cheval dit Saint Jacques and found a lot of records from both France and Canada. Now I only see a small amount of records from people from Canada and the rest is gone.

I think there may be multiple causes. One of them is a gremlin in the "new" index editor-and-viewer, which sometimes changes the image/index access instead of the index data as the user was trying to do. ("New" in scare quotes because it came out two years ago, for the 1950 census indexing.) Another possible source is a database error (cause unknown to me) that assigns incorrect permissions to large swaths of things.

I'm having the same problem. Seems like a lot of records are disappearing! Very frustrating! Records that I have attached as sources now say "We are unable to display the record for this source. Please try again later." Or I get:
