You simply can't merge a living person to a deceased person in Family Tree. How you should proceed depends on whether your Grandpa is alive or dead.
If your Grandpa is alive, then what need to happen is that the decease duplicate needs to be changed to living. You can do that by editing the death event for that deceased duplicate and change it to living. Then you'll be asked why you think he is alive, and you simply indicate that you know that your own grandfather is alive. Someone will have review the situation, but eventually that duplicate profile will be marked as living. At that point, it will disappear from your view and will only be visible to the person who created it.
If your Grandpa is deceased, then you need to first mark your living profile for him as deceased. Once you've done that, you can merge your profile for him with the duplicate deceased profile.

@Tennuchi Alan Cyril Edward, unfortunately, that Help Center article completely and utterly fails to answer this question, because it makes no mention of the fact that you can't merge a private-space profile with a public-space one.
