ERROR REPORT Placename standardization on the fly
@N Tychonievich please and thanks
Record set: Vermont, St. Albans Canadian Border Crossings, 1895-1954
The problem appears in the search results, but not in the extract/index of the individual record. URL https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QK3R-Q7JH
John Jeffries is shown to have been born in Donegall, County Cork, in the search results:
In the extract, no place of birth is shown.
John's place of birth is shown on the index card as Donegall, Irland. Spelling is a bit off, but understandable.
If the place of birth is not in the index, how does it show up [autostandardized] in the search results?

I'm sure this isn't the first time when there is a discrepancy between the Search Results and the Historical "Record". But I don't recollect ever seeing one where the Historical "Record" completely omitted the item from the Search Results! 😮

I wondered if - maybe - in removing the (original) designation, an overzealous bot removed the place altogether.

@Áine Ní Donnghaile Thanks for the report. I've been reporting quite a few instances where the search results and the record details pages are different--or one lacks info that was clearly indexed. I'll add this instance.

Thanks @N Tychonievich.
I've been wondering - when you pass along these reports, does the team doing the repair fix just this one instance? Or, do they check the particular record set for issues? Thanks.

@Áine Ní Donnghaile Each instance of a specific place that is inaccurate is fixed all at once
