Descendancy View > Copy ID not working

When I click 'Copy ID' while in Descendancy View nothing is copied. I have to actually highlight and copy in order to get it to copy. I'm not sure when it stopped working but it used to.

    Both the Descendancy and Fan Chart views use the old-style, two-click Copy ID routine. This is because those views have not been updated since the new-style single-click routine was introduced.

    The "Copy ID" button works fine for me in Descendancy view. I wonder why my experience is different from yours. I'm using Chrome, FWIW.

    @Tiffany Farnsworth Nash

    Are you making sure to click twice? One click gives you this..

    But it needs a further click on "Copy ID" to get the "ID copied" message and function enabled.

    I believe it worked like this on all pages in the past, but now there is an inconsistency in the Descendancy View that the engineers need to address.

    Put plainly, a single click on the ID should produce the "ID copied" message / action here as everywhere else in Family Tree.

    To be honest, I never feel the need to use either Descendancy or Fan charts, so I missed the fact that the problem applies to the latter, too. I work between Details pages and Landscape, so only became aware of the issue applying to Descendancy when the matter was raised here and I checked it out.

    (I'm sure someone will explain to me sometime that I am really missing out by not using these other features, just as I can't understand how some users don't appear to be missing out by not using Landscape too often!)

    I much prefer the fan chart to the pedigree views. I can "navigate" it with a single glance, and new record hints practically light the thing up instead of hiding in a sea of stuff. Granted, I only really use it centered on myself or my spouse. For working on particular people in the tree, I find the mini-twigs of the Family Members section to be sufficient.

    I check the Descendancy view occasionally (sporadically) for new indexed records, or to try and track down DNA matches (with limited success). It's also a useful view for printing out before visiting relatives.

    Confirming that the Copy ID is not currently working in either Fan Chart or Descendancy View. Yes, I am clicking twice. Evidentially it has not to be working since the New Page View. Hopefully this can be fixed soon. I shall continue to highlight/copy/paste in the meantime.

    Just tested the Copy ID on the descendancy view and it does not work for me either. I am using Safari.

    Huh. Maybe it's an OS- or browser-specific thing? I just tried it in both a fan chart and a descendancy chart, and it worked exactly the same as always.

    (Yes, I tested it by pasting the ID into Recents and clicking Go, and it went to the selected profile.) I'm on Win10, Firefox.

    Yes, working for me, too - albeit also using Win10 & Firefox.

    So, this "appears" to be a Safari issue. I am a Mac and use Safari v17.3. (FYI, I'm not interested in getting a different browser thank you)

    Safari is a supported browser and the programmers have been really good at fixing browser dependent problems when they hear about them.

    However, they may not want invest time to fix this relatively minor problem if those two chart pages are close to being completely replaced with updates to match the other new pages.

    I have reported the problem. Thanks for figuring out the details for me to forward.

    This problem was fixed with the launch of the new Descendancy view. If you are using Safari and want to copy the id, you will need to use the new view. The new view only requires a single click to copy the id. We tested it and it is working correctly in the new view for Safari. FYI - it is NOT working in the old view for Safari so please use the new one. Sam 😊

    @Sam Sulser

    Thank you for the update. Yes, it is now working for me with the new view.
