Should I put in married name if I don't have maiden name?
The subject says it all.
I have someone and I know their married name. But not their maiden name? The last name field says "maiden name" Should I NOT put the married name there. Where should I put it? I have the husbands full name, placed in the marriage relationship.

The recommendation is to leave the surname blank if you lack the maiden name. You can add the married name as an alternate name if you wish but this is not necessary,

THANK YOU that has been generally what I have been doing.
However in this case, when I use the family search button, see below you know the list of other places to search, it finds nothing. There just doesn't seem to be enough data to find anything. Nothing at all. Despite having husband and his parents names.
Random thought...
PS
I think Australia is under researched. Actual Wedding docs seems non existent, other than a reference which is hard to see if they are the person you are looking for. This is true on Library Ancestry also. Maybe they have different laws for privacy and or are a little slower to be transferred.
Oddly I have found the complete flight manifests for the Pilot my father flew with in ww2 in the RAAF Even letters he sent to them in 1998, on the Australian government search site.
PPS. Im still waiting for the Bradford city to get back to me with records on my wife's grandfather, seems to be taking longer than I would have thought. Its been week now or more. ??

For a local authority to reply in under a week is optimistic. Sometimes you will get a speedy acknowledgement but a proper reply normally takes longer.
Not sure about the extent of Australian records. Have you looked up Australia in the FS wiki?

Thanks. Yes I will sit on my hands and be patient :)
I have posted my questions to the Pacific group. It appears the Australian group is not really active. Which may be some of the reason its less accessible. Eg. Less members there? Maybe.
thanks.

I've had some really good results when searching on both Victoria and New South Wales BMD websites. I don't know if this would be the same for other Australian states / territories, but records do appear to be more easy to find in this way, rather than by searching any national / country-wide databases.

Sorry for the confusion and for taking so long to respond. No, I am talking about the websites at https://www.bdm.vic.gov.au/ and https://familyhistory.bdm.nsw.gov.au/lifelink/familyhistory/search;jsessionid=D2874838612DD676F403AE9A7D199D5A?0, where one can search for BMD events in the states of Victoria and New South Wales, respectively.

The FamilySearch Wiki is a great resource. You can see what records are available for different areas. The Australia page is here. You can also search by smaller jurisdictions.
