1950 U.S. census - household not indexed
I'm unable to attach the 1950 census to Hugo and Maggie Schwarz because their household didn't get indexed. Would someone be able to index just this household of Hugo & wife and lodgers, or could I do that? Here's a link to the page to which I'm referring: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QHJ-5QHW-TXWX?view=index&action=view and I've included a screenshot below.
Note: I haven't done any indexing.
I made a user-contributed transcription for Hugo and Maggie at NARA https://1950census.archives.gov/search/?county=Davenport%2C%20Scott&ed=101-44&name=Hugo%20Schwarz&page=1&state=IA which is how I'm able to find them there. The only way I could find the household in FamilySearch was by searching for the first name "Hugo" in Davenport, Scott, Iowa; luckily, Hugo Dietz is indexed on the same page as Hugo Schwarz was enumerated. 😶 The household is indexed on Ancestry.com https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/70491384:62308.

It probably was indexed, but someone tried to fix something, which caused the buggy index editor to eat the entry instead.
You can try to add the index entries yourself. In your link, look at the bottom right corner (just off the bottom edge of your screenshot) and click the "Add" button. Note, however, that the last time I tried it, it didn't work: it allowed me to go through all of the steps, and it looked like I had succeeded, but reloading the page or coming back to it from elsewhere showed that this was false; the entry was just as absent as when I started.
You can bypass the faulty index (and its faultier editor) and simply attach the image directly as a source, using the button at the top right of the image (Attach To Tree). You'll only need to create the source once; you can then attach it to every family member's profile. Note that this is a completely different approach from the usual Source Linker architecture: instead of separate, unique entries for each person, in which edits/corrections must be made separately on each and every affected profile, your Source Box attaches linked instances of the same source, and edits to any one instance cause the same changes to all instances.
(Silver lining: you're avoiding half a dozen "unfinished attachments" for all of those lodgers. I mean, I can figure out that the first two are Mészáros Hedwig and Maria, but that's "Butcher", and just about as common, so there's zero hope of finding the right Hedwig and Maria to attach it to.)

Hi Julia -
Thanks for the detailed reply! I tried adding the index entries myself, and it didn't work for me either. ☹️ I had the same experience as you described, and when I clicked on "View Record Details Page" https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6RKF-WQ73 I got a "We're unable to show this record to you" page (see screenshot below.)
I will take your suggestion to attach the image to Hugo and Maggie as a source -- thank you for your help!
