US City Directories
Is there a way to identify the spouse of an entry? Some entries have a name at the end that of the entry that could be a spouse and some entries have a single name in parentheses that could be a spouse but it is not identified as such.
I understand deceased spouses are marked as such and we do not index those names.

Hi, The directions say: A spouse's name, if listed, may have been recorded in parentheses after the name of the principal individual. The surname should be indexed for both individuals.
For the batches I have worked on this has been true, the spouses name comes directly after the individuals name and is in parentheses. All of the batches I have worked on have just had the given name for the spouse. The names at the end of the line are normally part of the address.
Hope this is of some help.🙂
