Retired record - new record incomplete
regarding:
Ada Mahala Hopkins
ID 9ML2-FHN
There are two tags for the 1871 birth of a daughter. The second includes this notice: “This record was a duplicate and has been retired. We recommend using the most current copy.”
The first tag is the current record, but, it is missing data. Race, and birthplaces of both parents aren’t included.
Can anyone think of a reason why these fields would have been dropped?

The reason is, the automated process Got It Wrong.
I recommend ignoring the retirement recommendation: leave the more-complete index firmly attached to the profile, and also transcribe its contents into the Notes/Description field of the source (in case a future automated process manages to damage the no-longer-searchable index).

Thank you, Julia
This discrepancy, unfortunately, makes it more difficult to tag the source to the parents' birthplaces in FT. They could be tagged manually after the source is linked, but that's one more thing to remember
I hope this doesn't happen a lot.
