Flag for making Albums in my memory section private
Issue: I have created Albums in my memory section for both living and dead relatives. Many photos have both living and dead people in them. For instance, if I have a photo with my deceased father and brother in it, but it also has a living mother and sister in it. If I place a copy of the photo in each of their albums (both living and dead).......when I tag one of the two deceased people, the albums for the two living people go public (they appear on the tagged photo on the right hand side under +Album), and anyone can click on the album of the living people and see their "memories". There could be birth certificates or marriage certificates or addresses that may be considered "confidential data" in many States, or even by the Federal Government. And IF the bad guys start to try and data mine family search albums, the living people will be mad, and the Church could be held liable for not controlling that data.
Solution: I would recommend that all albums that are created in a memory section are defaulted to private, and that a check box or flag be attached to them, that would need to be checked to make them public, (they will then automatically show up in the +album section of the memory that is tagged like the currently do)
After all, my main "memory" section isn't visible to everyone, just because I uploaded a memory and tagged some people. It is still private, and the albums should be the same way. Especially due to privacy concerns.
Please call or email me if you have questions.

You are welcome to make any memory private. The default is to make a memory public.
It's good that you are concerned about the privacy of memories for living persons. However, memories are not as private as you seem to be assuming when you said:

Although people can't see your Gallery directly (I assume that's what you mean when you refer to your "main memory section), every memory on FamilySearch is actually publicly visible unless it is explicitly set to be private. It may be difficult to find, but it is definitely public. Here is an article that explains this: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/who-can-view-the-items-uploaded-to-memories
Albums do not currently have any ability to be private; all albums are public, although they may contain any combination of public and private memories, and the private memories within an album will not be visible to anyone but the creator of those private memories.
The bottom line is that when you upload memories of living persons to FamilySearch, you are responsible for the privacy of the memories. That is made clear in the article I linked to above, as well as the Submission Agreement that you enter into when you first submit memories to FamilySearch. FamilySearch has provided a means for you to mark them private, and so FamilySearch has fulfilled its responsibility for protecting privacy. The rest is up to you.

The best way to protect the privacy of the living is to keep those memories offline.
