Birth date- day/month/year doesn't add up with the record year

I will attach a document that will help explain the problem I am running into.

The date of birth suggests a year that is completely wrong. The record itself is from 1937, but it's showing the birth date as 5/03/04.

How am I supposed to understand what their date of birth is.

Out of curiosity, it would be very interesting for us to know exactly how and why this problem has arisen for you.

If you are indexing a set of documents dated 1937, of course it is perfectly reasonable for there to be references to other dates / events included therein. For example, your screenshot also shows a 1931 marriage for the same individual, but you don't appear to be querying how you should deal with this.

If indeed this is an indexing project in which you are participating, I imagine the project instructions should be indicating exactly which events / dates are required to be indexed. The fact that the record might be dated 1937 appears to be somewhat irrelevant - unless there is something that did take place in 1937 that is the subject of the data to be indexed.

The record date is either the date of the DEC, PET or OOA. These are the first (DEC) and second (PET and OOA) papers in the Naturalization process; the record date is relevant, especially to the researcher. The document looks to be the PET and the record date is indexed in the entry.
