Language based improvements
It would be easy to give an option in the personal settings of a user to select a few preferable languages. I mean that if someone is working with Matriculas written in LATIN the possibility of choosing a few dozens of other language is unnecessary. Scrolling down to the "Other"* is a time-eating movement. There is definitely a need to use one or two native language of the exploring area, of course... but the other bunch of languages could be divided and listed under a line.
There is an other corresponding issue:
When we start typing the name of a (birth/marriage/death... etc.) PLACE, most of us are not curious about if any similarity found ten thousands miles away. An option in the personal settings would solve it if we could set the geographical area of the researches. Many times we need to type almost until the last letter to be able to pick the accurate place (even the upcoming dynamic results are more far away and not just by mileage but in typographically too...)
*it is a nonsense that there is still no choice to pick the LATIN language what used for centuries and by several nations in Europe and the Americas.

Vanilla is the platform that FamilySearch Community uses.
I would type your post elsewhere and keep a copy, as posts may disappear. I find the Vanilla platform inferior to the platforms used by other Forums I visit, but FamilySearch don't seem to mind all the disadvantages.

I think you're talking about the language drop-down on names in Family Tree, and that defaults to whatever you last used, so I'm not sure why you're having any difficulty.
Given that there's no actual difference between a large portion of the choices, I'd be tempted to just leave it as "Other" (as a stand-in for "Latin") if my other common choice weren't Hungarian, which is one of the few options that isn't the same as most of the others.
The absence of Latin from the list has been discussed here before, but I can't get this dratted platform/software to cough it up.
