Request: "Potential Matches" to act and feel like "Merge" pages
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/import/compare/5288894
Why are the “Potential Matches” pages not looking and feeling at all like “Merge" dialog screens? It is causing grief by somehow adding duplicate profiles found by others. Can this be corrected so we can have better control over GEDCOM entries?
"Potential Matches" grief extends to adding "matches" that end up being additional entities for the same person in a family. The solution so far is discovering the right entity is clickable in "Potential Matches" and can be entered to help resolve any issues caused by a "match".
Having the "Potential Matches" screen act and be like the "Merge" dialogue screen would be more helpful.

I finally managed to time a screenshot just right to capture the error message: we can't look at your GEDCOM comparison page. It went into an endless loop with a brief flash of error message, then blank, brief flash, blank.
I dare say that's just the tip of the iceberg for what's wrong with FS's GEDCOM compare-and-add process. My suggestion is to not use it at all. Upload your file if you wish, as a form of cloud backup, but leave it in Genealogies. Work on the collaborative Family Tree one person at a time, consulting your file in another tab or window instead of trying to get FamilySearch to show you everything you need to see in order to do it right.

If only I could like Julia's reply 100 times.

I found what you reported the hard way. I've tended to upset a lot of distant cousins with the duplicate entries (negative feed back in the Chat). I found out within the last few days that I could have just clicked on the surviving entity name at the top right and merged the entities after each "Potential Match" action occurred. It is a missing step that should have been coded in. There is no easy fix for what has already occurred. I have to practice "genealogy repentance" now for those entries that FamilySearch has listed as "Already in Family Tree". My "solution" of having the "Potential Matches" pages would be a way for us to "see" the differences and treat them like we've done using the 'Merge" dialogue screen. Right now, "Potential Matches" has us working in the blind.
The new GEDCOM tools are a step in the right direction, but they need to be fully integrated and not half-baked. I made assumptions and now I am paying the price.
