There is a discrepancy between the written instructions and the picture how to instructions
When indexing Petitions of Naturalization and Oaths of Allegiance for the same person and they are on different images but in the same batch, it says we should combine the images and index the data from both for each entry. That is easy to do.
When the images are in separate batches, the instructions say not in index the Oath of Allegiance because it will be done with the image of Petitions of Naturalization. There is a picture example of indexing Oaths of Allegiance that says to index the name and event date only. Not sure what you want done in this situation. I have been indexing the Oaths of Allegiance by themselves anyway. Please advise. Thank you.

Hi JohnsonBenR311,
please post the batch code for the project that you are working on. The instructions can be different for a project even though the projects look similar.
The instructions for the project that I am working on presently state:
- When combining information from multiple non-overlapping documents on the same image for the same individual, use the record number and record date of the Petition for Naturalization.
This seems to be different to the instructions that you are working with. With the batch code we can see your specific instructions and possibly be able to give assistance.🙂

PETs and OOAs are the "second papers" in the naturalization and the order is PET, then OOA. OOAs are their own separate entry that will be indexed as shown in the example. If you have an OOA that is Image 1, you should index it. Don't worry about the PET that is in a different batch. That PET will be index separately from your batch.
