Should a Managing Owner's Oath be indexed?

So, batch [MQ61-21R] in the US—Masters of Vessels Oaths, 1897–1992 contains a "Managing Owner's Oath". The project instructions state "Index all records of a vessel master's oath containing a name and a recorded date" and "Mark all other images in Step 1: Images as No, No Extractable Data." The Managing Owner's Oath is not a Vessel Master's Oath, of course, but it has a lot of the same information, just for a different person. Should it be indexed?

I lean more to the side of it not being indexed, but I wanted to check here, just in case.

This is probably a really dumb question, but I can't un-ask it, so I guess it stays.

Brayden, usually those owners are the masters. You can see that from looking at subsequent images. I would index anyone on these forms. I've seen a "secretary" on one form, and in the next image that same person is given as the master of the vessel. You'll see agents as well. Anyone who has the responsibility for the running of the ship is the master.

@barbaragailsmith1 I'm not sure that's the case here. The owner is Chas. F. Gilbert and the master is Phillip O Lancaster. Surrounding images also show Phillip O Lancaster as the master.

There are so many different forms in this project, and at least half of the documents don't say it's the master's oath (like the proj. instructions examples show), but are owners or agents of owners oaths, who in the next image will be given as the master. Very occasionally on one type of form toward the bottom, a different person will be given as the master. I would index that person. But I've only seen that about twice.

Here's an example of the owner being the master. https://www.familysearch.org/indexing/batch/421c4d9f-9bdc-447f-8199-7a57b96accfe

@barbaragailsmith1 Thanks, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the record I have questions about. The owner and the master are two different people, and the record is about the owner.

Thanks for the share batch. I would still index it. As I said, so many of the documents are owners' oaths (even though in most cases other documents show that owner with a master's oath). We wouldn't be indexing half the images if we only indexed those that say it's specifically a master's oath.
