Number of sources
This is referring to the Person Page.
I merged 2 records Andrew S. Harrison LZZD-18Y and Andrew St. Clair Harrison. GQXS-JRS. The latter was the remaining record. The former had several census records (containing his birthdate), and the sources did transfer. However, the Birth field still says there is only 1 source for that Birth.
I have tried reloading the page several times, but no change.
Ever since the new Person Page was released, there has been a problem showing sources for the Residence field. That has never been fixed.
These notes are important! They are the best way to tell if the information is supported or not! If it's not going to show the truth, at least don't show anything at all.
(btw, I have no idea what the required "Categories" for discussion posts are about.)

Categories are used so that your question is placed with others about the same topic. This discussion is about using the Person Page in Family Tree, so it has been moved to that category. The different Categories can be seen at https://community.familysearch.org/en/categories/familysearch-help. You can also see the category in the breadcrumbs at the top of a page or under the Quick Links.

A source can be attached to a person, but it will only be connected to a conclusion (a name, event, etc.) if the source is then tagged to that conclusion.

Without knowing just which sources were tagged to the birth prior to the merge, it's difficult to be certain what happened in the merge. But it's entirely possible that only one of the birth records was tagged to the birth event prior to the merge, and so only one was tagged after the merge. I've done many merges, and I've never seen a tag get lost in the merge -- I'm quite sure that there was only one birth source tag before the merge. You can fix the birth source tags yourself.

Until the new person page was released, there was absolutely no way to connect (tag) a source to a Residence event. Now that we have the ability to tag a source to a Residence event, it is up to each of us as researchers to add that tag. Once we do that, the Residence event and the source will be connected.

I agree. And you are doing great service when you make sure that helpful source records are attached to persons AND that each sources is then tagged to each conclusion that it supports.

The real problem arises when two profiles are unmerged, or different sources have been otherwise attached for the same event. You have to remember to not only remove / transfer sources that remain attached to the "wrong" person, but also that this does not mean the tagged events automatically disappear. In the example below, the 1871 Startforth residence remains, even though the source has ben removed. The problem (which could cause great confusion to an inexperienced user) is often only picked up later - when another user (like me!) questions how one person can be in two places on the same night (of the census)!
Just noticed there is an incorrect 1851 residence here, too. Both to be removed later, along with the "meaningless" Custom Event item, which also appears to relate to another individual (of similar identity, but different area).
