Duplicate identical information

I have noticed that I have a split with identical information. All information of my tree after a certain point including the file numbers are duplicated, names, dates places, all the same. I wanted to merge the information to clear this up with no luck. I cannot delete the names either. Is there anyway to fix this problem?

The situation was that Catherine A. Hart (who was married to Loren Osgood Thompson) had the same parents as Mr. Thompson. So since they were essentially brother and sister, their pedigrees were identical.

There was no looping pedigree. This was simply what also happens when cousins marry each other -- their ancestry is identical at some point.

However, in this case, that was an error -- Loren and Catherine were not siblings. In the last hour, some user has removed the incorrect parents from Catherine, so that problem in the tree no longer exists.

I notice that you are using the Family Tree app. Since these changes were made by a different user, you may need to refresh the app data to see those changes reflected in the pedigree view in the app.

There is certain to be. But you will probably have to post exactly where you are seeing this, that is, post a link to an individual in Family Tree where things start repeating. From your brief description, it sounds like you probably have a looping pedigree. This happens when someone, for example, accidentally puts a grandfather as the son of his own grandson. The fix is to find where there is an incorrect child to parent relationship and fix that relationship.

Here I've created a small example of such. Notice the birth years. Going back farther on this pedigree you would see that after Ludvig, it all starts over with Magnus Johan and repeats every four generations.

To fix this I remove Ludvig as a child of Magnus Johan.

If this is not what you are seeing, you are going to have to explain in detail what you are seeing. Screen shots and ID numbers are always helpful.

This is what happened. As you can see the information duplicated. Even the ID is the same

Thank you both. I refreshed the app data and it cleared up the problem. Hopefully it stays that way.
