1- When are you going to implement 2FA (2 Factor Authentication)?
2- I’m running in to this problem more and more. Women’s Social Security records list every time they changed their name usually due to marriage. Is it possible to introduce a solution to match to their alternate names in the source linker?
Example profile:
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/GHVX-SZZ
You can see I added her married names.
Example source in profile:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/linker?pal=/ark:/61903/1:1:6K95-43D3&id=GHVX-SZZ
You can see the unfinished Barbara Ann Klotz which is one of her married names I have listed on the previous page.
3- Another feature I’d like to see is when you attach a census or other record and it automatically creates an event, it should also automatically attach that record as the source. I recently noticed this wasn’t happening and I’m quite un-thrilled that I have to back to every profile and manually attach the sources.

Thank you,

I do not want two-factor hassleification! It is evil incarnate and has no place or purpose on a genealogy website.

There is a new Source Linker being rolled out, gradually. You can check it out on the Beta platform.

Julia, is it any more hassle than being logged out of the site every [insert unknown number here] hours? 😉
Ancestry have just introduced it ... Oh, hang on, judging by the complaints and misunderstandings over there, you may have a point.

@Adrian Bruce1, TFA would make being logged out even worse, especially for people with limited or expensive internet access.
I've refused to even look at Ancestry since they started threatening TFA.

Ancestry does not EVER log you out, unlike FamilySearch. There is also no requirement in Ancestry to manually log out if you don't want to. I set 2 factor login, used it once to log in and haven't used it sense.
FamilySearch's auto log out is very annoying and if people are so ticked off by that I say pay for a better experience and use Ancestry. Both systems are very vital to a good researcher's tool box.

As I said, I think you have a point.
The Ancestry users complain enough with queries like "What do I do if I don't have a mobile phone?", to which my mental response is "Please read the xxxx instructions..." followed by a typed response of "You can use email". But I can seriously imagine the technological capability of some FS users being less than the typical Ancestry user, so no mobile and they use "Our Tom's email". Not a good place to start from.
As yet I have no feeling for how long the new Ancestry system keeps me in for - it says it will keep me in for 30d providing I tell it to "Remember This Device". (Another potential point of failure, of course)

I added two-factor authorisation to my G-mail account after getting paranoid about possible hacking. I didn't find it too much of a hassle, but then I was being asked to confirm (type in) my mobile number every time I logged in - effectively, "three factor authorisation". I kept mistyping my mobile number, so found it better to dump the extra login step(s) altogether.
I doubt very much if anyone is going to want to assume my identity to log into my FamilySearch account, so sincerely hope this idea in not adopted (as a requirement).

In my opinion, adding more "automatic" features in the Source Linker contributes to "robotic or Junk genealogy". Custom events have become a "junk pile" to some degree as a result, which contributes to the erroneous narrative in the new ABOUT section of the new Person Page which is computer generated and not editable
Just a thought.

@melville,dl, the robo-bio on the About page isn't editable per se, but you can get rid of it by simply writing something in the bio section (whatever they're calling it now) on the Details page. There's a "Publish..." checkbox on that which will replace the robotext with what you write there. Or, you can do as I do: ignore the existence of the About tab/page (and of the bio section on the details page).

Julia,
I was aware of that. My concern is that people take the ABOUT section as "gospel truth" and copy/paste it to other places within Family Tree (Bio Sketch, Stories, Notes, etc) and other websites (esp FindAGrave) which concerns me. I know the ABOUT robo-generation uses Custom Events. I had an example where it interpreted "Northern States" to become "Northern Sudan" in the ABOUT section. I also believe the Source Linker contributes to the problem somewhat by the way it "defaults" on tagging sources and added other information into the Person Page (usually as Custom Events). My opinion is that there is a lot of "junk genealogy" in the Family Tree that could be avoided.
bTW, I really appreciate your knowledge level and your generosity in commenting and helping people with their problems and obstacles in Family Tree. Thanks so much.

"Northern States" turning into "Northern Sudan" is almost certainly due to an incorrectly-standardized place conclusion. The About page exclusively uses the standardized labels, so it can be one way to find the ones where someone didn't notice that the drop-down list was offering the wrong thing. (The Time Line is another method, especially for the wrong-continent ones like Sudan.)
Source Linker's literal-mindedness is a long-standing complaint; I don't know whether the update to it is addressing the question at all. It would be nice to be able to tell it that no, I don't want a custom "death registration" event, I want to enter the death information from said death registration. Or that the marriage record should be tagged to the person's birthdate, because it's on the image, just not in the index of it. (I am heroically [mostly] skipping the evergreen baptism=christening topic.)

@melville,dl I concur on the issue with the "About" section being taken too literally. The same issue occurs with the "Life Story" section on another genealogy website. And now that site has added an AI option for which I do not have high hopes.

I would love for 2-factor authentication to be an option. I also love the 2nd idea. I love the 3rd idea a lot! I would love it if it would also attach the data added, to the source!
