Can I put information from an image in a neighboring batch into an entry?
Batch MQD7-YCM is the first page of the Petition of Naturalization which I am reviewing. Page 2 has the Affidavit of witnesses where the date of the record is located. That page is on the next image, but it isn't an image that is included in the batch. The instructions say: "For petitions for naturalization or petitions for citizenship that have the record document's date recorded only in the affidavit of witnesses section, type that date in the appropriate fields for the same person." It seems that the image with the Affidavit of witnesses should have been included in the batch. Needless to say, should the record date be marked as blank or should I give the correct record date from the next batch's image? That seems to be a recurring dilemma for this batch.

You should record the date from the following image. That's what the reference images are there for.
When images are divided into batches for indexing, the computer doesn't yet know what's on them. That's kind of the whole point of indexing: to tell the computer what's on an image. Therefore, in a project like the naturalizations, with some records spanning two images, and two images per batch, a single record will end up in two different batches about half the time.
In general, you fully index every indexable record that begins on an image in your batch.

I just realized that instruction was in the general indexing guidelines
