improvement to helper system
Two days ago, a brother in my ward (kwcl-51M) gave me his name, birthdate, and helper number to give me access to help him. I clicked on "Help Others", entered his name, birthdate, and helper number and was granted access to help him. He did not have to do anything. With the info he gave, I can be his helper as long as needed, no time limit.
Today I click on the question mark for HELP, and Helper Resources, expecting to find him listed under "people you are helping". Not there. When I tried to add him, it is requiring that he respond to an invitation. Why bother a busy bishop with the invitation? I should be able to just enter the information he gave me already - full name, birthdate, helper number - and which grants me helper access, and add him to the list of people I'm helping, which makes it easier for me each time I work on his line for him.

The "Help Others" life preserver icon is a separate function from the Helper Resources/Planner function. I am sooooo thankful that the Help Others icon is still available!

You are working with two different processes.
One is the Help Others feature that you have recently used with this person. This is meant as a quick, one-time help feature. See this Help article for detailed information. How do I use the Help Others link in Family Tree?
It sounds like you are trying to access this person's information in Helper Resources to utilize the Planner feature. See this Help article for detailed information: How do I add or delete a person from my list in the Planner?
For them to show up in your list in the Planner, you need to go through the invitation process. This will send them an email asking them to grant you one year permission to access their tree information. It also provides them information about how to revoke this access if they no longer want this type of assistance. The Planner access will expire in one year unless you ask the individual to renew it.
