Cannot access census images
When I try to view a US census image through a search or source link, it tells me “this image has not been indexed” and then it tells me “unable to load image group” and it crashes me off FamilySearch and I have to log back in again. It does not matter what year census it is or whose profile I am working on. I am using Win10Pro and Firefox v.119 (64 bit). Microsoft Edge won’t even load the FS login page; Chrome will access the census images, but it takes forever to load an image. I can access the census images just fine with Firefox at Ancestry.
If I just browse the census images for any year, the old film viewer loads the image and allows me to access the image in Firefox. Since the new image viewer replaced the old (BETTER!) film viewer, I am unable to access ANY census image. I originally sent this to support who told me to submit it through the Feedback tab, which I also cannot access, so here I am. I am hoping someone here can get this glitch to an engineer and fix it - I am not the only person with this issue. Thank you.

I agree that the new viewer is often troublesome. A couple of suggestions -
Have you cleared your FS cookies?
Have you tried viewing the census (or other record) in the old viewer by editing the URL? For example - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-DYCQ-WFY?view=index&personArk=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AM4D2-66B&action=view gives you the new viewer. If you edit the URL, removing everything starting with the ? mark, you'll have https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-DYCQ-WFY which will display the old view.

Thanks for the response. My browsers are all set to delete cookies and history when they're closed and cookies are rarely the problem. I tried your other suggestion and it works - IF I can manipulate the url before the new viewer crashes me to the desktop. It's a temporary fix; not a permanent solution. I am hoping someone will send this up the chain so they can clean it up. Thanks for your help.

@mmillington, the new viewer is much more than just a new viewer: it's also the new editor for fixing indexes, and it is vastly more capable than the old one. When it works, that is.
How do they expect people to tell them about problems? Using the "Feedback" tab on a page that just crashed?

@Julia Szent-Györgyi You're right, it's difficult to report a problem on a page that you cannot access. While the "fix" suggested by Aine does work, it only works if one can cut off the bad part of the url in time. So far, I have not seen the vastly more capable aspect of the new viewer since all it does is kick me out of FS.

I too am having an issue, also using Windows 10 Firefox. My cookies also set to delete. In my case the site is not crashing, it goes into a continual autorefresh or just does not load at all most times.
I have also found numerous census records that once were on FamilySearch have been removed. I am find having to use Ancestry.com to find 1900 census records. And often find 1870 and 1920 census records on Ancestry that I can not find using FamilySearch search engine. But then they pop up as suggested sources on one family member.
It seems many of the recent changes this past year to FamilySearch have decreased the usefulness of this site instead of improving it. I went without using Ancestry for years. I now had to purchase an Ancestry subscription and find myself needing to use Ancestry daily to find sources that I should be able to find here.

@Melissa Ann McLaughlin the censuses have not been removed, but there is an ongoing problem with the existing indexing of numerous census records. You'll find numerous threads on the subject - the 1900 US Census was particularly hard hit by the problem.

No there are 1900 census records that have been removed. I know this because prior to them being removed, I linked them. Now when I click on them it takes me to a page that says they have been removed.
Today I not only can not view most census records, I now can't view death records or marriage records. The page comes up with the image blurry and 3/4 of the image cut off with the new edit panel and the links on the right hand side (panel) do not work. There is also not a feedback feature on the page so I can't report the problem.
The viewer for the marriage and death records worked this morning.

@Melissa Ann McLaughlin Yes, the "this record has been removed" is part of the error. The record is still on FamilySearch.
