I found a 1860 US census record in Ancestry https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/37704370:7667 but I have not been able to find the same record in FamilySearch. I assume the record was indexed for FamilySearch and I want to attach it within FamilySearch to avoid duplicates. Can anyone help?

I found FS's version of the image (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GYBG-SD3?i=118) and it appears to be unindexed -- and no wonder, as it's effectively blank.

(That's with the contrast set to maximum.) Ancestry's isn't exactly easy to read, either, but at least there is text there.

    Well done, Julia.

For future reference, GBHammer, if you can't find a census record by searching because it has not been indexed or was so hard to read that it was indexed inaccurately, you can browse to the Ward and City. You don't have to "Browse all Images," but you do start with that box.

On the successive pages, you will choose the state of Illinois, then the county of Cook, then the 7th ward of the city of Chicago. There are 2 listings for the 7th ward. That's not normal - there should just be one. I was hoping one might have been a re-filming, but that does not seem to be the case.

Since you have the image number from Ancestry, it's relatively easy to find the same image on the FS digitized film. It may be 1 or 2 image numbers different since sometimes one of the two will have a cover page that the other does not. And you also have the original page number handwritten at the top of the page.
