I searched the 1860 Census for South Carolina for my great-grandfather, Gabe Fleming. The actual Census record was taken in Greenville, South Carolina. However, the event location shows Society Hill, Darlington, South Carolina. Is this just a mistake, or does it have any relation to my search?

@N Tychonievich This one does not have the clue of (Original), but the index does show multiple edits of the place. The census page clearly shows "Town of Greenville, County of Greenville." https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MZTZ-L73 Thanks.

@Damelle325 This may be one of the many instances of the automated placename algorithm run amok. N Tychonievich has taken the lead on checking on these and getting them resolved/corrected.

Thanks. I was just hoping against hope that perhaps this would give me an additional lead to try to find more info about my great-grandfather.
