I cannot find anyone I was named after?

Have you looked for the surname Carthy around the area where your family lived or where your parents were born, if they were not from the same place?
Or, what were the maiden names of your grandmothers? I have a number of cousins who have a given name that was the surname of a grandmother or mother.

Sometimes these links are difficult to find. I have researched the English painter L. S. Lowry, whose father was a Robert STEPHENS Lowry. I can find no STEPHENS surname in any branches connected to the Lowry family and have eventually come to the conclusion that Robert's father named his son after the preacher Robert STEPHENS McAll. The internationally travelled, renowned Congregational minister appears to have visited the Lowrys' Manchester locality during his travels and I am fairly certain Robert's father was a follower of his teachings.
I concede I am offering no direct help here - just an example of the lengths to which you might need to search to find any meaningful CARTHY connection to your parents! (Having any Irish connections to your family might be a starting point.)

Yes, I have searched. I have also "Googled" my name Carthy, and the only one comes up is me! Thank you for your suggestions.
