Deduce gender from women's names?

I am doing a census and I cannot see anything about the genders in the instructions.

What I see is that for men they always wrote their professions, so from this information I can know if they are men or women to deduce the gender. But for women they leave it blank in some baches instead of saying "their sex" or something similar as I have seen in other batches.

So when they leave the profession field in blank is enough information for me to deduce they are women or should I just press CTRL+B?

Thank you beforehand

Unless the sex is listed or there is language like my husband (wife) is, you will mark the sex blank. It is not our job to infer or assume anything from names or professions, even if they are a policeman, milkman or housewife.

We don't use occupations to decide gender, unless the instructions tell us to. In the US records, stewardess, actress, seamstress, etc. could not be used to determine gender - even though the "ess" makes them females.

The census is in Spanish. Generally, with some exceptions, in Spanish you can tell because if the profession ends with "o" is referring to men, if it ends with "a" then it is referring to women.

    Thanks for your response.
