How to print or save family tree?
I have several generations. I want to print a text file or something else, that has all the names and possibly birth and death of relatives. Mostly I want this because i get frustrated having dozens & dozens of windows open and cant find who I'm referencing, and get lost in Alt Tabbing. I just want to look at the list on paper to quickly find a name.
I have searched but cant find anything like that?
Thanks.

There are various options available.
Probably the best one is to view your tree in landscape mode and then click Print in the bottom right hand corner. This will allow you to print a 4 generation pedigree chart. You can navigate to a different person and print another chart if you wish.

Most of the tree/chart views have a "Print" option. For example, if I go to Family Tree - Tree and choose Fan Chart from the drop-down, there's a Print button at the bottom of the Settings box.
The button actually generates a PDF, at least with whatever browser and OS settings I'm using (Win10, Firefox). Set to seven generations, it has names and years for all but the seventh generation, which has only the names.

Thank you for your answers. I have explored those options you have mentioned and they are very helpful to see what options are there.
It is unfortunately, however not a complete solution for me. What I would like to see is listing of parents and children of say 5 generations, for each name. Frequently I squirreling down a tree's and would love to have a hard copy to view as I'm doing it. Now I can imagine that the answer you may say is , well what would that look like and how would you print it? And the answer is I'm not sure, accept that I know there are people considerably smarter than me. It could be printed in several pages I suppose. I have seen this elsewhere I think. Anyway maybe I will just have to print of each family and paste on wall or something.
Again as always Regards,
Thank-You

@ColinM0288 Honestly - IF there were a way to add all that information to a single-page hard copy, the print would have to be so small it would not be legible for most of us.
I have a 3-monitor system. If I need an overview of the tree, I have it on one screen while working on another.
There are 3rd party products available from which you can create a larger chart and have it printed at an office-supply vendor in a larger format. https://grms.my.site.com/solutionsgallery/s/

There are various versions of "all-in-one" family tree charts; they all tend to rely on one's ability to follow (sometimes very, very long) horizontal and vertical lines. Many of the 3rd party programs that Áine linked can generate such a chart based on the FS tree's data, but FS has not expended any time or energy on an all-in-one view (understandably enough, given their limited resources).

Thank you for your comments and advice. It would be nice to have such a thing built into the web site. I understand that I might have to wall paper my wall with my family but I would not mind. Anyway I will look at 3erd party products if I really want to go in that direction, which will probably slow down my process, but there you are.
P.S. I don't know I just like paper and I don't have enough desk space for 3 monitors :)
Thank-You.

Many things would be nice to have, but their absence does not keep us from researching and documenting our families.
As has been often said in this community, we should always have a backup of our research. The FSFT is a collaborative project, so anything may be changed/edited/merged away. Yes, it can all be restored from the change log, but having a complete tree, on our computers and/or on other websites is crucial. Charts of that type are available on many sites.

Thank you for your comments. Yes a backup is important this is a good point.
Unfortunately there is no easy way to backup FS to another site. Yes you can buy software but from my reading this only transfers some things. For example from my understanding no documents that I have uploaded, will be uploaded. This is NOT a complaint per say, just a wish as you have well said. Every system has its way of doing things, and its reasons for doing things. Unfortunately it's not easy to upload info to another site. I have looked at the solutions page and it is astounding the number of programs. It's tough for an old guy to sort through the info. It's sort of like going to the library and finding 100's of books. Which one is the best? I assume also that many you will have to enter the data all over again, as it will not automatically populate the info from FS.
Apologise as these are just my thought processes.
Regards.

Personally I maintain my primary tree on Ancestry synced with Family Tree Maker. This syncs images. If I upload memories to FS, I usually upload them to my Ancestry tree as well. I add records from Ancestry to Family Tree when I have a bit of time to spare!

I also use Ancestry with FamilyTreeMaker. I have friends who use RootsMagic and Legacy. Each has its pros and cons.
