I am looking for help regarding my great-grandfather ARTHUR STANLEY KNOWLES (1883-1941).

Family tradition says that he carved the reredos (ornamental screen covering the wall at the back of an altar - photo attached) at Ogbourne St George Church, near Marlborough, Swindon, England, possibly around 1911. He is recorded in the census of that year as living at West Street, Aldbourne, less than 5 miles east of the church and was a carpenter by trade.

Any information on the church, the reredos or ARTHUR KNOWLES would be gratefully received by me.

I would suggest that the level of detail you're after is such that you'd be better off contacting the church.
