More than one Family Tree?

It is all one massive family tree database of more than a billion people.
we are all collaborative contributors to that same database.
there is no such thing as "my database" versus "your database"
You can add anyone you wish to this massive collaborative Family Tree.
If you click on "Family Tree", "Person", and "Recents" and "Add Unconnected person" you can add a totally new person to the database that is unconnected to the pedigree that is in your current view. But the person you want to add, if they are deceased, has a high probability of already being in FamilySearch.

If you are looking for a system that you have total control of - and no one else has access - then you should look for a solution - outside of FamilySearch. Such is not the design paradigm of FamilySearch. (No, you cannot "lock records" to prevent others from updating them).

Question: Is this "... different family ..." still part of or connected to your Ancestral lineage; or, a totally unrelated or unconnected lineage?
.
The answer makes no real difference; except, with the way such is entered in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" ...
.
IF, it be that the "... different family ..." is still part of or connected to your Ancestral lineage; THEN, just add them where they fit (ie. connect) to your Ancestral lineage - simple.
.
Whereas ...
.
IF, it be that the "... different family ..." is a totally unrelated or unconnected lineage; then, just add someone from that lineage; as, an "Unconnected" individual/person; and, then, go from there - also simple.
.
Now ...
That said ...
.
As to your Second question ...
.
Short Answer: 'No'.
.
FYI
.
We do not have our OWN "Tree" in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch".
.
We ONLY have "Branches", that are interconnected, in this SINGLE "One" World "Tree", for all of us, that is "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch".
.
"Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" is NOT like "Ancestry_com" or the like.
.
We DO NOT have "Private"/"Personal" 'Trees' in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" like other "Web" Sites; and/or, 'standalone' personal programmes.
.
We do not even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, the "Deceased" individuals/person in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch".
.
"Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" is built on a "Open Edit" Platform - hence, why any registered User/Patron can "Edit" (ie. Add, Delete; and/or, Change) ANY "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch".
.
You can certainly "Merge"/"Combine" any "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" with another "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch", regardless of who the User/Patron was that initially created those "Deceased" individuals/persons; as, they DO NOT reside with the User/Patron who initially created them - they are "Public".
.
I hope this helps.
