Indexing Template

Since the Information on the document does not appear in the same sequence that the fields to index, I write down the information from the document to the piece of paper (template), in the order that the fields appear, then I type the information from the paper (template) on to the fields to Index, has anyone created a template to capture the information on paper to then transferred it to the fields a template for 1) Birth, 2) Baptism 3) Marriage, 4) Death. It is time consuming to be going back and forth to the document and the fields. I would then put the template inside a Sheet protector, then write on top of the sheet protector with a water soluble marker, once I finish indexing the document, I wipe the top of the sheet protector, and start with another document

Are you talking about indexing using FS's indexing tool?

If so, are you aware that the tool allows you to re-arrange the indexing fields to match the image, using simple drag-and-drop?

As I said, it's drag-and-drop: put your pointer over the heading of the field you want to move, depress your button, keep pressing as you move your pointer, then let go of the button when the field is where you want it to be. There's a helpful "ghost" showing what you're moving and where.

There are lots of tricks that make this program really easy to use - moving fields, hiding fields, copying text, are just some of them.

Here is a link to a Youtube video shown at RootsTech 2021 that will show those tools.
