How would you add an unassigned person to the source? I have attached thousands of records but see that the persons being discussed. I saw someone mentioned to make a new profile for that person. can someone give me a overview?

My focus is, shamefully, my family had slaves. African Americans have so little information. They show up as servants. For instance, a 7 year old black child was listed as a servant. It just sickened me that this little girl can’t easily fit into this database.

this opens up a broader discussion on how we provide for that community to find their roots.

im so pleased we all want to add them. Please tell me how to add an officiant or servant? Eventually the data will propogate records and connections.

@MaryPeterman3, are you having trouble adding the profile or the relationship? Or both?

To add a profile for a person for whom you do not (currently) know any relatives, click Recents and choose Add Unconnected Person from the bottom of the drop-down.

To add a relationship like "Employment" or "Enslavement", copy one person's ID, go to the other person's profile, scroll down to the bottom of the Details page, click Add Other Relationship and follow the prompts (using "By ID" to add the other person).
