Providing feedback on indexing batch (image order)

I'm indexing from the project "US, New York—Eastern District Naturalization Records, 1899–1955 [Part D]", batch MQZZ-7DV. The batch has two images, which appear to be different parts of a form from two applicants. I can see enough of the reverse side of the first image bleeding through that I'm confident that it belongs with that image. (The batch appears to include the back side of the form for one person and the front side of the same form for the next person.) If that is correct, it would make more sense for the batch to include both sides of the form for one person instead of parts of the forms for two people.

Re providing feedback, in a quick review of previous posts, I see many references to a feedback button, but can't find an actual button in the indexing page on my browser (Chrome).

It's kind of an extreme version of the "what to do when a record spans two images" part of the General Indexing Guidelines (https://prod.familysearch.psdops.com/cmsa/idx/what-to-do-when-records-span-2-images-or-to-view-additional-images): the entire first image is a continuation of a preceding record. However, this project instructs us to index oaths of allegiance separately from the petitions they go with, so I guess it's not NED. (I don't think the oath would've been indexed with the previous batch, just as I don't believe you should be adding an entry for the oath that goes with image 2, since that oath is entirely on a reference image and is thus not part of this batch.)

Thank you for that clarification. A good reminder to review the project instructions when a question arises.

I understand your post to be a suggestion that they try to batch the back and front of the forms together. Since this was photographed as individual documents, and because they are indexing both types of documents (petition/oath), they probably didn't want to take the time to have someone batch them together. I believe that batching is still done by teams of humans.

The goal is to provide searchable indexes so folks can find the images, not so much to have one succinct record of an individual. The person who gets the next two images will index Estera's Oath and then the front of the petition of the next individual.

Indexers and reviewers can see the first 5 and the next 5 Reference images of the batch by clicking on the bottom icon in the vertical toolbar. Sometimes the instructions will tell us to combine the information, as Julia referred above. This one does not. Looking at the whole film, every single image in this collection will be indexed. (It often depends on the way that things are photographed (digitized) as to how the project instructions will tell us to index them. That is a whole different lengthy discussion).

There is no feedback button in indexing. Feedback is on things that have already been indexed. You can post in this Indexing community or offer up suggestions on the Suggest An Idea.

    Hope that helps.
