US- Maine Nat Records On image 2 there is an Oath of Allegiance with a
certificate at the bottom. PI's say to index oaths of allegiance, naturalization certificates, final orders, alien registrations, repatriation records, There is also the overlay to consider.
Is this an alien registration? I've never seen one before. Do I index it and if so what record date should I put? Should I index the oath of allegiance? OR is this image marked as NNED?
Thanks,

You would not index the OOA as it is under the overlay. The overlay is an alien registration stub/slip, which was used as a form of identification (think today's green card). You will use 4/27/43 as the record date.

Hi Lisa Kay Horlacher, I had not seen an alien registration before but it does say "alien registration slip" on the document. I would assume this is an alien registration.
The following instructions might help with your other questions:
Images may contain multiple records, either for the same person or different people. Be sure to examine each image carefully, and index all records that pertain to this project.
- Multiple dates may be indicated on a document. When typing the naturalization date, use the most recent date that relates to the naturalization process.
I hope this is some help in answering your questions.🙂
