Farm name/location
How can I find the location of the farm Brotnoveie, a subfarm under Brotov in Ullensaker, Akershus. My friend is going with her family soon and wants to see their ancestral farm. Is there a farm map on-line?
Also, is the old church still in Ullensaker? The one I saw on-line was more recent.
Finally - How do I find the name of the farm where someone lived in the mid 1800's. Marriage record: Jens Christian Peterson of Brotnoveie married Inga/Inger Maria Olsdattr. (b. 1831 in Faevik) 18 April 1854 in Nannestad, Akershus. No farm name is given on marriage record or birth record.
Thank you for any help you can give in short notice.

Farm names are very stable in Norway, except for spelling, so finding a farm is usually pretty easy. Even in areas that have been urbanized the farm names usually live on in neighborhood or street names. However, every couple of hundred years county names can change. So the first thing you need to know is that on 1 January 2020 Akershus was merged with Buskerud and Østfold to become Viken county. That was so unpopular that on 1 January 2024, Viken is going to be divided back into those three counties.
The best online map is at norgeskart.no but is generally easiest to search by including the municipality. So I will go there and in the search box type the first part of the name and Ullensaker:
Is Brotnov now spelled Brotnu? One way to check is to go the the 1865 census. Checking there, there is no farm named Brotov, only Brotnav and Brotnaveie. In the census, the farms on either side are Hilton and Kløften (see: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/district/tf01038022000647 )
Going back to the map and choosing Brotnu:
So this is the Brotnav in the 1865 census because it's neighbors are correct.
Going back to the 1801 census: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/district/tf01058227000001 the same farm, sitting right next door to Hilton and very close to Kløften is spelled Brotnov:
Another place to check for farms is the 1950 property tax list at https://www.dokpro.uio.no/cgi-bin/stad/matr50
There you can see that Brotnu is divided into three properties, Brotnu, Krybelsborg, and Kløfta sewage treatment plant IV. The tenant farm Brotnaveie that was in the 1965 census is no longer listed. But if your friend goes to Brotnu she will be in the general area.
Church building get old and get remodeled or replaced. If you have not read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ullensaker_Church you will see there that there have been four churches on the same spot since the 1100's. The current church was build in 1958. The church just previous to it was built in 1768 but was struck by lightning in 1952 and burned down.
Can you post a link to that marriage record?

I'm curious as to why this post was moved to Search when it has nothing to do with any Search function on FamilySearch? It may have properly been moved to the Nordic Research group, if @Linda Johnson_18 belongs to that group and would be able to get back to it there. But it really was just fine under FamilySearch Help - General where it would be seen by the most people.

As usual your research and help is fabulous. It has taken me awhile to digest.
I thought I was posting this on the Norway site, not sure how it appeared somewhere else.
I noticed when looking thru the farms in the Brotnoveie link you gave me the name of a farm, Thronson.....
My friends family name is Thronson so I am wondering if that is where the family was previously . The information I have is that Thorvald E. Thronson was born 29 Dec. 1861 in Hole, Ringerriget. He immigrated in 1884.
I am attaching the marriage record of Anna Pederson's parents (she was born in U.S.) and married Thorvald Thronson in Minnesota. You had asked for this.
I will look at the Norgeskart. A great resource for farm locations I think.
Thank you!!

I assume you are asking here about Inga since you know Jens Christian is from Brotnoveie. I would assume she was born at Fævik unless her family moved before she got married. Do you have her birth record?
I doubt you can make a connection between Thronsenstuen and your Thronsen without definite records. The name just means someone by the name of Thronsen, which could be a pretty common name, originally built the cottage there.
