I cannot type the Danish vowels with their extra characters. i.e the / in the O.

With the A, I press A and the number 6 to insert the small o on top of the A.

Please advise solution.

Thanks

If you are using Windows, you can use the Character Map application to insert any characters. On a Mac, you can hold down a letter key and a pop-up will show the accented variations of that letter.

Many word processors also have a feature that lets you insert international characters. You could put the handful of characters you need in a little document, and then copy and paste characters from that document as needed.

Since you are on a Mac, things are easy. The standard Mac key combination work just fine. Hold down the Option key and type ', o, a to get æ, ø, å or ", O, A to get Æ, Ø, Å

New Macs also use the same method as was introduced with the iPhone of just holding down the right key long enough to have the pop up menu appear. It takes about three seconds.

    Like this:

You can't just type the letter immediately followed by the number. You have to wait for the menu to appear.

From the way you describe it "I supposed to type A in caps and hold down the number 7," you have been trying thing backwards. It is, "Hold down shift-A. A capital A will appear then three seconds later the pop up menu will appear. At that point click on the Å or type the number 7." Personally I find typing Option-Shift-A a lot faster. Just do that in the right order, also. That is hold down the Option key, hold down the Shift key, then type the letter a or o or '.

I wonder if you went to google translate and put it in English and had it translated to Danish if that would do the trick. https://translate.google.com/ Just as a workaround until someone can tell you how to do it on the keyboard.

A+6 doesn't sound like Apple, but I don't recognize it as Windows, either, so what OS are you using?

In Windows, if your keyboard layout is standard English, then if you hold down the Alt key and type 0229 on the keypad, you get å. Similarly, Alt-0230 gives æ and Alt-0248 gives ø. Subtract 32 for the capital letters: Alt-0197 gives Å, Alt-0198 gives Æ, and Alt-0216 gives Ø. (Note that these alt-number combinations only work with the numeric keypad, not with the numbers across the top of the keyboard.)

I have a Mac, using macOS. To obtain Å (copied and pasted from your post), I supposed to type A in caps and hold down the number 7. It does not work for I get A7 instead. I guess.the best advise is to copy and paste.

    That is a bummer!!
