How can my generation help gather Israel when FamilySearch won't give me my free partnership account? I've been on the phone all morning with FamilySearch and Ancestry and neither of them know what's been going on for quite some time (weeks). I went to FSY and got all excited about Family History, now I am disappointed. We were told we could have a free Ancestry account. I sent in help requests and I have been told that some software engineer accidentally changed the age requirement from 13 to over 18. I was told that it may take months to get this fixed.

Update: My Dad was just told that a fix is on its way, but it is at the bottom of a large pile of things that need to get fixed. It's going to be a while. Guess I'll go do something else.

    LDS subscription access to Ancestry is a relatively new thing within the last few years. You can do excellent genealogy and family search without Ancestry. Ancestry is only one of many tools. No need to wait for a fix. Get started now, you're burning daylight. You have everything you need in FamilySearch's Family Tree.

    @Chas Howell

    You have everything you need in FamilySearch's Family Tree.

    Whilst FamilySearch might be a great website for undertaking genealogical research, you surely don't use it exclusively for this purpose? I have at least three or four other websites open alongside working in FamilySearch and would have made no progress at all, with certain family branches, without being able to visit many other sites (e.g. Ancestry). Other websites have a huge amount of records / resources that are either totally unavailable on FamilySearch, or at least have those all-important images that FamilySearch does not.

    Perhaps better phrased as "Why wait? You have everything you need to get started in FamilySearch's Family Tree."

    And, there are free accounts on other genealogy websites available to LDS members. If the Ancestry partnership is malfunctioning, try one of the others to get started.

    Thank you Aine Ni Donnghaile, for stating my thought more clearly. And I think Kathryn understands that now too because she “Liked” my comment.
