Add a field for the name of the cemetery a person is buried in

This information gets lost when the place location is standardized. It is important information because other family members may be buried there and might be added if a patron were to be able to quickly go to a cemetery. Some locations have multiple cemeteries. A cemetery name may suggest a person's religion that may be another source for family information. Finally, some people just want to visit their ancestor's gravesite.

Standardizing a place name should never removed information from a place name! If someone is removing a cemetery name from a burial place, they do not understand standardizing and do not understand how Family Tree works. You need to contact that person who is standardizing incorrectly and teach them the proper procedure.

When a cemetery name is used in the burial place name and that cemetery is not in the Places database yet, the correctly standardized place name will look like this when the editing box is open:

This place name is correctly standardized and there is absolutely never, ever, any reason to remove the cemetery name (unless it is wrong).

Now, after that introduction, let me say that there is no need for a separate field because cemetery names are being added to the Places database so they can be entered quickly with less chance of typographical errors. For example, twenty-nine cemeteries in Ada county, Idaho, have been entered in the Places database and can be used used directly in Family Tree.

I totally concur with Gordon's comment. I have found that some contributors feel that it is "wrong" to include the cemetery name in the burial field, which is incorrect. Most cemeteries are now included in the FamilySearch standardized place name list.
