In the batch I am working on, the priest who made the burial records consistently only writes down the last three numerals of the year (786). I have been recording the year exactly as it is written, though clearly it should be 1786. Should I add in the 1 before submitting the batch, or just leave it as it was written in the original record? There is nowhere on the page where the full year number was recorded by the priest.

    I'd write in the 1 because otherwise it'll be all messed up in the published index. Computers are literalists.

    Yes, index it as 1786. The beginning of the film (Image 3; your batch is Image 56) has the dates of 1784-1792.
