RE: FHL Film numbers given on an Ancestry.com indexed birth
Had no luck finding that number, 255916, here in Fam Search. Called in for support and got a very nice, helpful lady, and she had no luck. So, will these film numbers "never" work in Fam Search, is my question. This lady who helped me said that she has taken calls before with that same scenario, but had never had any luck. Thank you.

The film number is not REALLY the issue in this case, since FamilySearch does not have the images. The record images are on irishgenealogy.ie, only.

What is the specific record on Ancestry, please? Location and year? They will work, but you need to know where to look. Some of the film numbers on Ancestry can be for an index, not the actual record.
255916 is for an index of an Irish birth. The full birth record can be found on https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp but not on FamilySearch. The Irish Genealogy site is completely free, and you don't even need to create an account or password.

As Áine said, film 255916 is an index of Irish births, which comes right up if you put the number in the correct field: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/results?count=20&query=%2Bfilm_number%3A255916.
