Henry Bell about 1765 Maryland to 1850 Missouri. I've been searching for years
I've been searching for info on Henry Bell, a pioneer settler, The Bell Mountain Wilderness, one of eight wilderness area Missouri. Henry Peter Bell, abt 1765 Maryland, moved to Bellevue, Iron, Missouri and died in Missouri abt 1850. I can't find any information about his parents, etc. I've been looking for years. I found information from Wikipedia, I found a land grant signed by Andrew Jackson, and have asked questions on Wikitree. I also have information on my ancestry.com tree: Carol Bell Syers Family Tree. This gentleman might be my 4th great grandfather, but I can't prove it. If you can help me, I would appreciate it. Carol
Henry Bell, maybe G93J, grandfather to John Byrd Bell, LK68-231, my 2nd great grandfather

Hi Carol,
I have read all the information you have and tried doing more searches and I am not coming up with a lot.
Do you know the history behind how Bell Mountain Wilderness went from being owned by Henry to being owned by the State of Missouri? I see you have reached out a lot trying to find answers. Have you done a DNA test to see if you indeed link to Henry Bell? What does the Bell Mountain Wilderness say about him since they list him as a pioneer? With information showing that you ancestor John Byrd Bell settled on his grandfather's farm in Missouri lie probate records, I would probably start digging into what you know about how long he lived there and anything you can find on him there. I'd even go back a generation to his father and what you can find on him. Did he own property, wills, anything that might tie you to his father if it was indeed Henry. You said one of them owned a mine..The Encyclopedia for the State of Missouri might be a good place to find information on the owners of the mine and possibly a genealogical history. My GGGrandfather owned a mine in Missouri and I have a record from the Encyclopedia for the State of Missouri that gave me quite a bit of useful information.
You have done a lot of research and I would say, don't give up. Keep digging. I am sorry I wasn't able to help you more.
Don't Give Up,
Shannon

@Carol Bell Syers Here's a question I have. How correct is the wikipedia information you found saying Henry settled in Iron County Missouri. I was looking at his son, he never left Maryland. Do you know when Henry went to Missouri? Was it after Peter got married? If there is a historical society in Iron County Missouri that would be the first place I would look to find any information on Henry. Here area some links I found.
You never know what you might turn up. If her had land and had a will it may name his parents.
Good luck in your search.

Dear Shannon, Thank you SO MUCH for responding. I am trying to put some pieces together, and have fun into a brick wall. Here is a link to my ancestry.com site for my 2nd great grandfather, John Byrd Bell: https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/14734403/person/28136131675/story Please read the "notes" "comments: sections on my page. I am trying to put pieces together. John Byrd Bell's son, my great grandfather, was named Henry Castleman Bell. I asked myself why was he named Henry. If you can read my information, John Byrd Bell moved from Maryland to his "grandfather's farm" in Bellevue Township in 1838. Honestly, I am truly stuck. The Missouri Historical Society also sent me information in the comment section. It does state that the family had "mines" in the area. I hope so much you can open up this link, and can read everything. I really, really appreciate some help. Carol Syers

Thanks again, Shannon. Yes, I've done a lot of research, and hit a solid brick wall with my "Maryland" Bells. I have found everything I can for Henry Bell, the wilderness pioneer. And, bits and pieces on everything else. I did Ancestry DNA tests already, and it does go back to my 2nd great grandfather, John Byrd Bell. Beyond that, I'll keep searching for answers. Thanks a lot for all your help, Carol
