Hello ,

In the Searching Record menu, we can match place by checking a square. Is it possible to be abble to do that for searching date also ? As you see on the picture attached.

If you choose the record type and make the year range a single year, that is already possible:

    Your search for Mathilde:

A related but slightly different observation: The search function seems to give little, if any weight to the date range. In cases where I have reasonable belief that a person was born in a limited date range, and I input that date range, FS returns individuals that are significantly outside the range. Why does this occur?

It depends on where you are entering the date. If you are searching for a vital record, use the fields for the event (birth, marriage, death) for the date and select the Record Type (as I showed in my examples), and the results will be much closer to your query. You can also use the filter bubbles at the top to narrow the range if your search returns many results.

My observation was for searches of the shared Family Tree. Perhaps I should have started a new thread as the original question was about records. I do use the fields for the event type, usually birth, and the search function returns births that are not in the range that I specified.

The Find function in the tree and the Search function for records are quite different in the way they work. Yes, a separate thread would have been advisable.
