“Privacy” is a tool of the devil which keeps us from making amazing technological progress and greater lasting connections with other people. We really need to change our perspective on privacy/confidentiality. The over-embracing of “privacy” by our society is very detrimental in many ways. Even more detrimental than identity theft, which is a known problem that can be mitigated.

Privacy means that you @Jonathan Duncan are totally free to announce anything at all about yourself to the entire world so that others can contact you and set up those connections.

Privacy means that you cannot force anyone else to do the same with his or her information and that anyone who does not want those connections has the right to be left alone.

Dead people have no privacy and since that is where most common family history connections are made, privacy laws to do not hinder making any connections.

Privacy means that if someone would like to harm you, you are at liberty to tell that person where you are.

Privacy means that if someone would like to harm your neighbor, you are forbidden from telling that person where your neighbor is.

Privacy is vital in this world where we now have so little of it.
