It's just a standardization error on there place "Northern States" -- either a person or some automatic system blindly accepted the first standard suggestion for Northern States, which happened to be Northern, Sudan.

But you can fix the standard place value to be something more appropriate. In this case, there may well be no good standard, so the best choice might be to remove the standard.

That entry was made, as a Custom Event, by another contributor. You can contact that contributor and ask what was meant. Possibly the northern USA, but we don't know what was meant without asking.

This is a reference to the LDS mission called the Northern States Mission. Some church missionary record collections provide a custom event like this in the source linker.
