Source Linker

Sometimes there is a "Other on Record" name in the Source Linker that has needs to be dragged up to the appropriate row. I have reviewed the KA - https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-attach-a-historical-record-to-a-person-in-family-tree. It does not explain how to do this. I think this should be added to this KA.

In that the article does not specifically provide the suggestion to "Change Focus Person" (often a requirement, particularly when attaching multiple individuals from a census record) I would agree with you.

However, due to the said provision (of being able to change the focus person) the need for an individual to be "dragged up the the appropriate row" can being easily bypassed.

Not a particularly good example (as no "Other on Record" included, but just illustrating that any individual included in a record can become the focus person, enabling the record / source to be attached to their profile, too:

After "revisiting" this suggestion, I am not confident my comments have really addressed the issue. Perhaps an experienced member could make an additional contribution here to confirm if this issue really does present a problem which needs to be addressed, or if my suggestion is a straightforward solution.

Either way, I agree that the KA should be amended, or there should be a link to any other, existing article that does explain the steps better (in mentioning the "Change Focus Person" option - or another, available option in dealing with this matter).

Picking up on @Paul W 's comment, there is a separate KA on changing the focus person

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-attach-the-other-people-in-a-record-hint-in-family-tree

However, there is no link to this KA in the one posted by by @Drew.

Also I cannot find a KA that specifically covers dragging and dropping.

Graham's additional comments add to the point raised, in that the procedure needs to be detailed more clearly, by one means or another.

In: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-attach-record-hints-in-family-tree , it does state:

"On the Source Linker page, make sure that the people on the left correctly line up with the people on the right.

    1. On the left side of the screen, find the misaligned person, and determine where he or she should go.
    2. If the children, parents or siblings section is collapsed (not expanded), click the Open link to allow you to move the record to the proper place.
    3. Click the misaligned person’s name, and hold the mouse button down.
    4. Drag the person to the correct place on the screen."

It still does not cover how to add a person that does belong in the family by dragging that person between other people to get an orange block then dropping the person so you can add the person to the family.

In this situation, I cannot add this second Siri to the family by making her the Focus person because one thing you cannot do in the Source Linker is ever have the right hand side Focus person be blank.

It seems that the several help center articles need to be consolidated into one, comprehensive article.
