Death Record - Remarriage
Italia (Antenati Italiani), Verbano—Stato Civile, 1806–1909 [Parte A] [MQSD-T4Y]
When indexing a death record for a woman who appears to have gotten married three times - two dead (?) and one current, I presume you use the one she was currently married to. Is this correct?

Last man whom she married is the one getting mention in the death records - last one is the one that's count.
If you wish to find mans name you should take a look in wedding registry and look for other two weddings or you could find those two man by searching for them in deaths records. They shoud have their wifes name by their name. Sometimes if you are lucky you could find two death spouse's name in death record of their wife.
This is the case all over the Mediterranean area where Christianity is the dominant religion. After the French Revolution (1789.) state get to do all the records, but the priciples are the same.

- If multiple spouses were listed for an individual, type information about only the present or current spouse. When no indication was given of which was the current spouse, type information about the first one listed.

If a maiden name is given as well as a married surname, you enter both, no matter where it's written on the document. The Field Help for the surname says: "Maiden names should be typed in this field before the current or former surnames."

Thank you for answering. I have another question that maybe you can help me with. In death records I notice that some locations in Italy use both a woman's maiden name and married name under the act number in the margin of the record (but not necessarily in the body of the record itself). When indexing such a record, do you transcribe both names or just the maiden name? The instructions say write down everything you see, but in many transcriptions I have seen only the maiden name is used.
