How do the Mortgages get done so quickly.

I will search for a project and there is nothing there but Naturalizations or a few others. A few minutes later, there's a Mortgage for a county but it's already done and, in a few cases, even the review is done. How is that possible?

It could be for a variety of reason. Some include that there aren't a lot of images in a project, right indexers/right time, level of project (beginner vs. advanced) or the implementation of AI on some batches (mostly beginner stuff) or some/all of the above. Indexing ebbs and flows. I have been indexing for 8 years, was on the old desktop system and know folks that have been doing it a lot longer. I've done everything from WWII draft cards (Burnt Corn, Alabama is a real place!) to Directories to South African cemetery records and my fair share of birth/death/marriage records. All I can offer is keep looking and don't be afraid to try something new. There are also the National Archives Citizen Archivist and Billion Graves if you're looking for something outside FS.

Thanks. I too started with the World War II draft cards and then rosters and have done a lot of different indexing projects and I really enjoy it. But it seems that lately the projects just show up already 80% finished or totally finished and that they come and go in minutes. I just wondered about that.
