Probably a stupid question: Hints
How does one make record hints no longer visible, apart from the "Ignore" function? I've recently linked many records provided by the Hint function, that do not disappear as I would expect. Some of these are baptism or wedding records where guests or witnesses haven't been linked, just the family members. Even there I would expect the Leave button in the linking function to remove the record from the Hints list.
My feeling is that records aren't really being linked although they indicate that they are while I'm doing the linking. So leaving that part of the functionality either with Done or Leave is actually working as Cancel!
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks

Can you post an example of an ID where you have attached a hint and the hint still shows on a pedigree or profile page?
Or is this hint still showing on a task list somewhere? If so can you post a screenshot of that task list open to that hint after attaching it?

Hi Gordon.
Here are a group of screenshots showing firstly a list of hints, then the first one I click on. As you can see, that hint is already attached to the item in my tree.

This is actually a very complicated problem. It has been discussed quite a bit on other parts of these boards but you are the first person to give enough information to actually maybe be able to figure out what is going one.
First I'd like a little more clarification to be sure we are looking at the some thing. From your images, it looks like you are using the FamilySearch website, not the app, on either a phone or a tablet and are staring in the Hints tab of the home page. Is that correct? Or are you in the android app? The first two images look like the website. But I don't recognize the third and forth images. I only have the Apple app and on it the first two images are not something I see there.
In any event, on a computer using the website when hints are attached, they automatically fall off the hints list unless there is more than one person they could apply to. I have to wonder if that is what you are running into. I see in your third picture the very top of another possibility for Mary Huskisson. The hint list could be giving you a chance to make sure the hint is attached to the right Mary, make sure their is not a duplicate for Mary since the Hint matches someone else, and to declare that any other Mary the hint may appear on is not the right person by marking Not A Match.
Looking at my hints list, I have several I need to get around to cleaning up because when I check the hint and jump to the source linker I see this:
and going to the source linker I see:
There is a problem in the record. His source is actually attached but the wife in the record is not shown here and when I check, this Lambert in Family Tree does not have the right wife at all:
The source linker is warning me that there is a problem with either the source or the family.
Anyway back to your issue, try going down the list of all the Marys in that third image and resolve any duplicates as needed or mark the other ones as Not A Match then see what happens to the list of hints.

Thanks Gordon. I'll go down the list and clear them all up. As for your earlier questions, I'm on android. As you said the first 2 screens were on the Web browser but then it jumped to the app for handling the actual record linkage.
