Can I build a tree on Family Search that is NOT CONNECTED to the world tree?
I find entirely TOO MANY incorrect attachments made on the World tree. People are not verifying information and often don't even use common sense. I have decided I really hate it. Information out there is conflicting and screwing up MY information that I KNOW is correct! I've been doing this for over 40 years!

If you want to borrow a book, you don't go to the bookstore. Similarly, for working on an individual/separate tree, you don't go to a collaborative-tree website.
FamilySearch does offer what amounts to public cloud storage for individual genealogy files, in the Genealogies section, but there is no mechanism for generating those files directly on the site. You have to use some other site or software.

@RuthStuder , you can build an unconnected line, but all of the duplicates will be displayed to others and people will begin merging them. I hope you have sourced your information thoroughly, including uploading private documents, etc. I recommend you search for and attach as many online sources as you can find, including all census, marriage, death, etc records, for example. I have had very few problems with my ancestors, but I go to extremes to source every piece of information I know. This applies largely through 2nd greats, and I have much information about all lines, including in-laws and birth family of adopted relatives. I suspect that I have a low incidence of changes because of this.

In summary, you can add your family tree to the FamilySearch website. However, you would be best to build it using your own software package (many products are available with free-to-use versions - e.g. Ancestral Quest and RootsMagic), then transfer a GEDCOM file to the Genealogies section of FamilySearch, by way of the page at https://www.familysearch.org/tree/import/files.

Or, you can use the records you find on FamilySearch to source and build a tree on one of the many platforms that support building individual - even private - trees.
