Family Tree Additional Feature: My Ancestors
Inspired by yet another plea to search for just ones own ancestors (see: https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/147633/quick-ancestor-search-in-my-tree ), I'd like to propose a new list that would basically be an Anentafel report starting with the user and going back a reasonable number of generations set by the user such as this one starting here with a deceased person for the sake of privacy:
Here the proposed list is constructed using the various features of search results lists, our Following list, and other parts of the website I copied and cobbled together in Photoshop for this mock up:
For the actual feature I would have the person with Ahnentafel No. 1 always be the individual user. Another option would be to make this another variety of "pedigree chart" that could start with anyone in Family Tree. It really is just the landscape, portrait, and fan charts in one more configuration but with different information visible at first glance and in a sortable list.
(For those not familiar with Ahnentafels, these are lists that show a person and that person's ancestors in a numbered list. To find any person's father on the list, you take the person's number and double it. To get his or her mother, take the person's number, double it, and add 1.)
(Also, for those who are curious, if someone had a full pedigree out ten generations, this list would contain 1024 entries with possible duplicates due to pedigree collapse. The duplicates should be included just like they are in the other pedigree charts since each duplicate would have a unique Ahnentafel number.)
