Mislabeled DGS

I suspect there is no way to correct this, but just in case, DGS 7901712 is cataloged as Knox County TN land records.

Item 2, "1806-07 Entries" is actually the District South of the French Broad & Holston survey district, which encompassed Sevier and Blount Counties. The district office was in Sevierville. Since the Sevier County court house burned in 1856, these surveys are a gold mine for early Sevier researchers.

Item 3 is the 5th survey district which began at the French Broad and ran to the Kentucky border. The district office was in Knox County which would explain why they are found there.

Item 1 is part pre-Statehood and includes some Glasgow grants, and some post-1796 Knox County grants. Item 4, "1824-28" is actually Knox County entries.

Perhaps if the DGS itself can't be relabeled in the catalog, someone could add this information to the wiki?

Thanks

Thank you, but I'm not trying to report an error in a Wiki.

@WillcoxME The catalog is currently static. The best place to find images is using Search>Images where you can search by place or DGS number. Looking at DGS 7901712 there, the Image Content has land records from Knox, Tennessee. If you feel there are other locations that should be listed, click on the Feedback tab on the left of the page, choose an emoji, and then leave your reasoning in the comment box. I suggest you leave your email address when providing the feedback so that they can get back with you if they have any questions about your request.
