Perhaps a member of the LDS Church would kindly confirm to other Community members the exact meaning of this frequently used term, often recorded as "the youth".

Is the answer produced in Google correct - in saying the Church applies it to those in the 12-17 age group? Apparently, the UN and WHO use the term to describe the 15-24 age group, whereas (in the UK) it is generally taken to be a general description of young people (e.g., "teenagers").

Like many words, there are various definitions and the context matters.

The most specific meaning would be the Youth which would be those in the Church's programs known as Young Men and Young Women which one enters January 1 the year one is going to turn 12 and leaves on ones 18th birthday or the end of that school year whichever is latest.

The least specific meaning would be anyone under 18.

In terms of FamilySearch, some people may use it to mean anyone under 18 that can have a FamilySearch account which would be age 8 to 17.
